What the Constitution Means to Me by Heidi Schreck Tops
American Theatre's Most-Produced Plays List for Second Year

Rajiv Joseph and Kate Hamill Tie for the Most-Produced Playwright

New York, NY – American Theatre magazine, published by Theatre Communications Group (TCG), has released Top 10 Most-Produced Plays and Top 20 Most-Produced Playwrights for the new season. These lists are based on the 2024-25 season programming submitted by TCG's Member Theatres as well as on credits from Broadway productions. By American Theatre's count, Rajiv Joseph and Kate Hamill are tied for the most-produced playwright in the coming season, with 18 total productions each. What the Constitution Means to Me by Heidi Schreck is the most-produced play, with 16 total productions, for a second year in a row. These lists appear in the fall print issue of American Theatre, online at AmericanTheatre.org, and will be announced today by the editors of American Theatre on Facebook. American Theatre has been creating these annual lists since 1994, but put them on pause during the 2021-22 season due to COVID shutdowns.

"This year's lists reflect such a rich diversity of talent, programming and storytelling," says TCG Co-Executive Directors Emilya Cachapero and LaTeshia Ellerson in a joint statement. "We understand the role and power that theatre has in holding a mirror to society, so it's no surprise that during this critical election year that What the Constitution Means to Me by Heidi Schreck tops the list for a second year. We are also thrilled to see Rajiv Joseph make his debut on the list of most-produced playwrights, in the top spot alongside Kate Hamill."

"It's thrilling to have this honor in a moment when people are so energized and passionate and feel like they can take their democracy into their own hands," said playwright Heidi Schreck. "And I hope everyone will get out and VOTE this November."

"I'm honored to be included with so many friends and colleagues on this list," said playwright Kate Hamill. It's a great time for American playwriting - if a uniquely precarious time - and I hope to see more and more new names on this list in years to come, as we all work to drive the field forward."
