Among some great movies she made, besides her wonderful Oscar winning ones: "Hot Millions" playing a British version of a kooky Goldie Hawn-type role opposite Peter Ustinov and Bob Newhart in a very funny comedy; "The VIPs" playing a secretary in love with her boss, played wonderfully by Rod Taylor with great chemistry between the two, and Smith has a great scene with Richard Burton, trying to get a loan from him for her boss (Burton said she stole the scene); "A Room with a View", supplying MVP comedy support; "A Private Function", unforgettably saying to spouse Michael Palin at one point, "I think sexual intercourse is in order, Gilbert"; "Murder By Death" where she and David Niven are playing characters based on Nick and Nora Charles from "The Thin Man"; the list goes on. I was fortunate to see her on stage in "Lettice and Lovage", too. Rest in peace, and thanks for your brilliance! |
