My favorite line in the 1978 film version of Neil Simon's ''California Suite'' comes between Maggie Smith and Michael Caine.
Smith plays Diane, a British actress visiting L.A. because she's up for an Oscar, and Caine is Sidney, her gay husband/antiques dealer.
Diane asks Sidney if he knows what she'll be doing, and Sidney quips: ''I pray, anything but Ibsen.'' |
