| This is devastating. When Mr. Creel was in Boston with Into The Woods in March 2023, he came to give a masterclass with some of my students. He was so supportive, insightful, so knowledgeable about "the biz," and a whole lot of fun. A gentleman but also a fantastic clown. At that time, a former student of mine. Sam Simahk, was playing opposite him in the show, playing Rapunzel's Prince to Creel's Cinderella's Prince, and the two of them were a perfect pair. I'm so glad I was able to see them together in the show. Creel, in that masterclass, passed on one of his favorite bits of advice for actors - the acronym TCTCTS. "The courage to conjure the silly." I've been passing that on to students and colleagues since then. I can only hope that Creel was able to find the courage to conjure some wonderful silliness in his life in his impossible last months. I can only say that he will be missed, and missed, and missed even more. |
