...in fact I think it may have even been the production's first Saturday night preview, I saw Brandon Wardell. After Creel left the production, Christian Borle replaced him. (Unrelated: "Long as I'm Here With You" wasn't yet in the show; in its place was a thoroughly underwhelming number called "Ain't No Prohibition on Love." I remember betting my sister it would be replaced.)
All gave great performances, but Creel--whom I saw later in the production's run--was sublime. His vocals were breathtaking, his charm was effortless, and his chemistry with Foster heartwarming. |
