Yes, to have played two leading cats and Nicely-Nicely Johnson by the time you're thirty is impressive. I was always glad to see his name pop up almost every summer at the Muny (including this year as Joe in WAITRESS). I'm sorry I was never able to see him at the theatre where it all started.
I still have my autographed CATS programme I got when I was 16. I don't know if Brian Blessed did that in London, but Ken Page spent the whole interval sitting on his tire chatting to all the kids who were brave enough to come up on stage and talk to him. Seeing that mountain of a man under all that hair and with his elaborate make-up was a thrilling thing. |
