Nine performances a week is *not* the usual pattern in London, and the article did not make an error. The Mousetrap plays nine shows a week - Monday to Saturday at 7.30pm, with matinees on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 3pm.

Mostly shows play eight times a week (the annual pantomime at the Palladium plays 10-11 performances a week), possibly with a couple of additional matinees around Christmas - which would probably not lead to more than an eight-show week because they'll be dark on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, and they probably won't have an evening performance on Christmas Eve.
