I've seen both. What's the question! They are both ridiculous. Totally. But I think that's the point. Drag you can take your Mom to. Jamboree you take your "sister" (best gay or gay-adjacent friend) to. Drag The Musical - Liza does a voiceover that has been recorded, so, yeah, she's in every performance. I will go again. The two competing houses are a little mismatched, but there's a lot of heart and Alaska is everything you'd hope for! You could take a kid. It's about heart and acceptance and family. Not about sex AT ALL. Jamboree is absolutely ridiculous - I've been twice. Rush tickets on TodayTix are $39. Have a drink and take a friend. It is very very gay and is pretty coarse, yet beautiful. The money is on that stage for an Off-Broadway hour - way snazzier than Titanique. I will go several more times with any gay friend that comes to town. Straight folks will be confused if they aren't very much into gay culture and they need to be willing to hear blunt conversation about non-traditional sex. |
