| I think the answer to your main question is no. Ditto if you slept through a good part of it. As others have said, however, one does not need a reason for leaving a show early sans critique. I have left shows early for two reasons I can think of: because they were lazy, or because I was tired not feeling great or just not in the mood to be in a theatre. I think it is ok to say you hate something for being objectively lazy, although I wouldn't use the word "hate." Regarding second act redemption, I would say the odds are against it but there are exceptions. I thought hanging around (tediously) to hear Juaquina Kalukango at the end of Paradise Lost was worth it, but I wish the best 15 minutes had been at the beginning (like Lion King). But the alternate argument is that front loading the good stuff creates false expectations. |
