I've certainly had the experience of a sleepy first act followed by a much stronger second act. If the first act is hitting me as neutral, I always stick around.
However, If I strongly dislike the first act, it's unlikely the second act will improve my overall feeling. I've left a few times. Most recently at Tommy (at the Goodman pre-Broadway.) I knew it wasn't for me. Too loud, found the subject matter distasteful and disliked the music. None of that was going to change. To answer you r question. Yes, I feel I saw the show.
I left at the Kim Cattrall revival of Private Lives. I was bored out of my mind. Possibly seen to may productions of Private Lives. Again, I would say I've seen the show. |
