Both of us had some familiarity with the plot. I hadn't seen the show since the second national U.S. tour with Petula Clark in the mid/late 90s -- but I wonder if that helped us out? I was never lost or confused, but I wonder if that would be the case for audiences with no familiarity with the plot. The Brechtian-like staging might have made the plot confusing to new audiences. I'd be very curious to learn if that is the case. |
