''McNeal'' is another prime example. Robert Downey Jr. was selling out performances, long before its opening night at Lincoln Center.
I doubt many cared that ''McNeal'' was a new play by Pulitzer Prize winner Ayad Akhtar; they just wanted to witness Downey's Broadway debut.
Two other Broadway debuts that are selling tickets are Kit Connor (''Heartstopper'') and Rachel Zegler (''West Side Story'') in ''Romeo + JUliet.''
Playbill reports that the 2 young stars are a hot ticket with the Gen Z crowd and is the second-highest average ticket price on Broadway. |
