Thanks, Kieran, for sharing the news about Perry Ojeda's Nov. 13 cabaret act at Act2PV in NYC. I'm so glad he's bringing back ''Just in Time: The Songs of Betty Comden and Adolph Green.'' Of course, he made his bright-eyed, Broadway debut as the good-looking Gabey in the Public's 1998 Broadway revival of ''On the Town,'' directed by George C. Wolfe. And his castmates included Tai Jimenez, Lea DeLaria, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Robert Montano and Mary Testa. Besides his many stage and TV credits, Perry also wrote and performed ''The Trick,'' his one-man show about a ''sex-hungry chorus boy'' who finds love. In 2007, we invited Perry to sing at our ''Leading Men II'' benefit for Broadway Cares at Birdland. And he delivered with a delightful rendition of ''Lucky to Be Me,'' from ''On the Town.'' And in a proud nod to his Mexican heritage, he did it to a lilting Latin rhythm and sang one brief chorus in Spanish. Bravo! |
