I agree with Chromolume's thoughts.

And - I have an allergic reaction against any updating / rewrite of old shows in general. 'Hair' can still speak to the now (I would love to attend a top-shelf production), but if someone wants to write a show about now, and the current depression / human rights violations, all the things you said - it needs to be a new show that explores those things with the music of the now. With no disrespect to your enthusiasm - I would stay far away from any such production that you are describing.

Also - does a show need to "heal the darkness"? I'm dubious about art that has a goal like that. Exploring, yes, but I don't love didacticism and healing as guiding principles for a show. Often becomes heavy-handed, obvious and without nuance or layers. (Not that this outcome would necessarily flow from your idea, but....)
