TheaterMania's Brian Scott Lipton did a wonderful interview with Gedde Watanabe. In 1976, he was in the original Broadway cast of ''Pacific Overtures'' and played the Boy in ''Someone in a Tree.'' Now, he's playing the Old Man in the same number at East-West Players' ''Pacific Overtures'' in L.A.

Watanabe also plays the Shogun's Mother, so he also sings ''Chrysanthemum Tea'' in this revival that stars Jon Jon Briones as the Reciter.
