I don't think any were stated in the book. I would imagine one consequence would have been that Equity wouldn't have cooperated on such permissions for future productions of his (e.g. Maria Friedman in "Whistle Down the Wind"). Others who know more can chime in, but it does seem like these issues have now been resolved in favor of generally allowing London actors to transfer without much controversy.
