It was Playwrights. I didn't see it either. And I didn't hear of Adam Guettel until Piazza. I think I was able to appreciate the FC score more after absorbing Piazza. He has a sound and style that you can hear in both, I think. And it's pretty complex and sometimes unusual to the ear (which I like).
My first production was NYU Steinhardt School of Music, and the stars were...then unknown...Jay Armstrong Johnson and Nick Rouleau. And wildly, there is a professional video of them singing Daybreak. |
