I think you vastly undervalue the impact that cast recordings can have on the legacy and career of broadway performers.
It's not the value or impact of a cast recording that I disagree with. It's your use of the word "deserve" I found troubling. If it's not part of the contract, then it shouldn't be expected. It's a wonderful thing when it happens, but as far as a cast deserving a recording. I don't think so.
