| Pamela Payton-Wright was transcendent in this role at the Goodman before it transferred to Broadway, and she was replaced. It hurts my heart to think she had to step aside for Redgrave. Or perhaps that was always the plan. I’ve wondered. But understood why she did not want to be credited as the standby in the Playbill after masterfully creating the role in this production out of town. |
