Based on the billing page for Promises, Promises, no one was above the title but Jerry Orbach had "starring Jerry Orbach" directly following the creative team, with Jill O'Hara & Edward Winter on the same row right below him before the "with" naming the rest of the cast.
Both Orbach & O'Hara got nominated in the lead categories with Winter showing up in supporting. At that time, I wondered if special billing below the title was considered differently than just strictly below the title. |
