Chazwaza, thank you for all the detail about all the different Roses! It was a fascinating read.

I wonder if Laurents's inconsistency from production to production is falling into the trap of not wanting to repeat oneself, even if a certain approach is the best approach for the material. I've noticed this with some Broadway actors in a revival or as a replacement in the same production, where they purposely say a line differently than their predecessor. But the predecessor said it that way because that was the best way for that line to be said, so the new actor, by trying to be distinctive, is really just hurting themselves and the production by focusing on being different.
