"Oh Lady Margaret, you are naive." From the 1940 film version of Robert Sherwood's play Waterloo Bridge. There's another good line from Lillian Hellman's play Watch on the Rhine that would be appropriate also.

In the summer of 2004, the Broadway revival of Assassins was selling out at Studio 54, but abruptly closed on July 18. Some time later Karl Rove told Chris Wallace on the Sunday morning Fox News Show something like he "leaned on" Citibank to pressure Roundabout to close the show. Some people believe what he said was true, others don't. Just saying.

Last Sunday Ayman Mohyeldin on MSNBC stated some pretty scary stuff that people on the hit list (possibly including some Broadway people) are planning to flee to Canada or Portugal if it happens. I'm not making this stuff up. I know for a fact that some of us from ATC (including people you know) are discussing this privately.

I'm guessing the Shubert group will want to play ball and the production won't happen.
