And gypsy was 1989. So Tyne was definitely a fresh off tv stardom. And there were 3 networks back then and only a few cable. And HBO really only showed movies and not hbo series. So more people watched tv on the three networks than do today with dozens of cable streaming with original content.
I saw the prebroadwy tryout in Boston. You could feel the audience hold their breath when tyne started her first song. She nailed it and the audience was relieved it was going to be a fantastic night. So part of her success was finding out she could sing. I don’t think anyone will be holding their breath for Audra. We know she can sing it. |
