Yes, though it's only the last section of the song, so it might have felt like it was tagged on to the recording. They probably thought, for the album's sake, that "You And I" made a better ending.
But I had a similar kind of experience with Dreamgirls. The way that "One Night Only" works on the album, with the song literally stolen from Effie as the arrangement continues, is so dramatic. But it doesn't happen quite that way (musically speaking) in the show (there's a scene inbetween). Damn. But it's a wonderful coup de theatre on the recording.
I've always been disappointed in the ending on the OBCR of Cabaret, where they substituted vocals of "Meeskite" and "So What" instead of the dialogue that actually happens, with the music just as underscoring. I think the dialogue as written in those spots would have told the story infinitely better. |
