....that the cast of STEREOPHONIC deserves every penny of the $5000/week they are earning. Doing eight shows a week of a 3.25-hour play alone deserves it, let alone the fact that they have had to master musical instruments and vocal chops that were never a part of their repertoire. (I can only imagine the time and effort they must have put in for months before rehearsals started, which I'm guessing would have been on their own time and dime.)
Compared to the musicians' and stage hands unions, AEA has always been ineffectual. Actors are always the least worry for producers> How brilliant this extraordinary cast realized its bargaining power and stuck to their guns.
