I also love the album "My Funny Valentine" of recordings of Rodgers & Hart songs that Frederica Von Stade did some years ago conducted by John McGlinn. Very beautifully sung.

Kiri Te Kanawa did a fun recording "Kiri Sings Gershwin". She was very miscast in a number of those recorded musicals that were popular and/or promoted at one time.

Julia Migenes, the original Hodel from OCR of "Fiddler on the Roof", is on the OCR of "Rags", replacing its stage star, Teresa Stratas. Interestingly, Migenes who was/is an opera and tv star in the German-speaking countries, got a big break at the Met Opera replacing Stratas on short notice on a live broadcast of "Lulu"; other than the movie version of "Carmen" opposite Domingo, she didn't really capitalize on that in this country. Maybe she preferred living and working in Europe.

Joan Diener, star of "Man of La Mancha" and "KIsmet" sang opera in Europe, I believe. Her voice certainly sounds operatic when taking those high extensions in "Man of La Mancha".

John Reardon, on recordings of "On the Town" and "Do Re Mi", was a crossover performer, probably before the term was invented, singing opera as well as musicals; he is on a famous recording of "La Boheme" singing Schaunard alongside the forever great tenor Jussi Bjoerling and conducted by Thomas Beacham.

Giorgio Tozzi is on the Lincoln Center recording of "South Pacific" opposite Florence Henderson and voiced the role on the soundtrack of the film for Rossano Brazzi. Tozzi later did the revival of "Most Happy Fella" on Broadway in the early 1980s, notable for being publicized for not using any amplification of the singers -- at least no body mics.
