No creative person starts w a blank page -- writer, painter, composer, scientist. All novelists use what they've read and their lives, and the lives of their intimates, and historic figures, and notorious or glorious people they know or read about. Of course they don't steal their ex's manuscripts nor blatantly turn to AI -- but that's not what I found interesting (just plot devices. I think it was basically a comedy about novelists and their ilk. I saw so many of my favorite writers in MacNeal. |
