Some people say that her voice got better later in her career when she was doing a lot of musicals onstage. In addition to the London Mame, she was (as I think you probably know) the first replacement Dolly in the original Hello, Dolly! on Broadway, but she also did a number of shows in stock. Anyway, she did "Before the Parade Passes By" on The Ed Sullivan Show, and the person or company that owns the rights to those put that on youtube in good quality. Her voice is not especially strong there. |
