HOLD ON TO ME DARLING

I disliked this production and I like all of the creatives involved. Adam Driver is a wonderful actor but I don't think he is right for this role which requires an almost Noel Coward level of irony buried underneath the Country-Western realism. And the Country-Western stuff feels like a good identitarian argument for "lived experience"... it all feels phony and dated even though the play is only around seven years old. It's not a bad play and production but the seats are priced too high. I hope this isn't what happens to the Lortel after the business model success of "Oh, Mary".
