I saw this production for the first time on Saturday night. It's good to know about TKTS because I would love to take others and go back.
The gradual costume shifts in the second act, particularly the Emcee's initial consideration of the wig and then full drab suit in "I Don't Care Much," were just devastating. Lambert's option up into the stratosphere on "waltz" - wow. (Also wow, I just listened to the Eddie Redmayne "I Don't Care Much" recording from London. What a different take.) I'm curious what you mean about the cabaret scenes being set in a different time period. Do you mean the costumes? I thought it was neat how they made it feel like the whole stage was rotating even though the middle part never actually turned.
Bebe Neuwirth seemed to be having a difficult time with some of the singing on Saturday night. Hope she is doing okay. |
