That both notebook and elephant probably should have posted closing notices in August. Hanging on to December is just burning through the reserves most likely. My guess this they don’t have the reserves to go to new years.

If I were an investor, I’d rather have the show close now and get some money back than burn through it all. But that seems to be the norm today instead of closing on opening night (or a month or two after losing Tonys and low advance) in the old days. But probably part of the problem is the lack of advance for many shows and last minute ticket buying now a days makes it harder to predict. Or maybe contracts are up in December and they don’t want to negotiate extensions.
