I specifically skipped previews in my post and focussed on Christmas week and January, the first full month after opening. I’m no forecaster, as noted, but I’d never speculate on sale trends from previews; that’s the given window for devotees. Filling the Majestic 8 times a week with a $271-$321 top - for a revival of a show often on Broadway in the last few decades - seems a challenge.
I found the wide open January the most surprising. Whole houses mostly unsold. That’s the pool of sales from which I drew my layman’s conclusions. |
