Lunt-Fontanne entrance annoyance

We showed up for the 2:00 matinee of “Death Becomes Her” at the Lunt-Fontanne early, at a bit past 1:00, because I remembered that this theater in the past let patrons in a little early to access an upstairs lounge with restrooms. Today, the theater employees lined us up separately for orchestra and mezzanine - and directed the mezzanine people to enter the theater more than 15 minutes before the orchestra people. Only when the mezzanine line had completely cleared were we orchestra patrons allowed to go in on that side to access the lounge (we were told the line to enter on the orchestra side would be held outside an additional 10 minutes), and by then there were lines at the bathrooms.

I don’t understand the thinking here. Why should only mezzanine people get the perk of quick access to bar and bathrooms, especially given the higher price of seats in the front of the orchestra?

Being treated as second class for no reason really soured our theater experience and we probably enjoyed the show less (it was just OK).
