Very good actor, best known for two tv series, as the rather serious buttoned-up attorney on "LA Law" and then the very opposite type, a hippie Dad on "Dharma and Greg". He started on Broadway and appeared also off-Broadway in the very un-buttoned nude show original cast of "Oh! Calcutta!". He was prematurely bald in most of his tv roles, but when he wore toupee like in "Oh! Calcutta!", he actually looked like Louis Jourdan! A late friend of mine knew him from working with him in "Oh! Calcutta!" and said that Rachins was otherwise rather nervy in real life, like calling up Barbra Streisand on occasion with a business idea. Back then, appearing nude on stage (along with Bill Macy of "Maude") and some other serious actors, was kind of taking a real risk with one's career. Glad he had a good one. Rest in peace.
