That was also at a time when hollywood saw more, shall we say, interesting beauties as stars... you put Roz's more handsome looks next to a typically "pretty" young blonde, and I get it. But I'd love to see someone who isn't even as attractive as Roz was in her youth, let alone when she starred in Wonderful Town (when she was 46). When she was in Wonderful Town, she was certainly not a typical pretty girl, in looks or in the vibe and delivery she brought.
But let's make her age appropriate AND genuinely contrasting in typical beauty standards from Eileen, and what was seen as pretty for young women in the 30s and 40s.
And yes, Brooke was completely miscast in the role (though outside of that she was perfectly enjoyable in the role as I recall). |
