Is it “stealing” a role when a role is recast with a more famous actor for a broadway or west end transfer? Is this unfair to the original cast member?

Personally, and I suppose this sounds coldhearted, I say anyone working in showbiz should expect that its brutal and there is no such thing as “stealing” someone else’s role. The only exception would be if the role needed to be played by someone who is part of a certain community. But again, if an appropriate replacement can be found who is also member of that community, it’s acceptable. I have seen it referred to as unfair when a role is recast for a transfer with a more famous actor, and the more famous actor ends up winning the awards and getting publicity while the less famous one who originated the role gets none of that. This isn’t terribly pressing to chat about, but my viewpoint on this subject seems to put me in the minority when it comes to online discourse surrounding this and I’m curious what you all think. For one thing, Broadway musicals are made into movies with more famous actors than the Broadway cast, and nobody bats an eye.
