| At last week’s Follies concert, the audience was filled with middle-aged gay men. I haven’t seen that many in one audience since the Liza Minnelli concerts at the Beacon years ago. Hilariously, the men’s bathroom line was quadruple that of the women’s bathroom line. Ultimately, they let men use the women’s bathroom. Do gay men identify closely specifically with Follies, for some reason? Did gay men just love the lineup of prominent Bway figures performing? It’s not a simple as “Gay men just love Broadway shows.” |
