Saw Ben Platt tonight

Despitr ll the snark on this Board, I saw Ben Platt at the Palace tonight and he was wonderful, very charming and very gay. He sang a couple of show tunes and a covered a couple of popular tunes but mostly sang his own songs especially from his new album Honeymind which will be released Friday May 31 and which I will buy and from what I heard tonight I will likely buy his previous two albums too. I liked what I heard. he had a special gues tonight Kristen Chenowith very warmly received by the crowd and they dueted. Between songs he tells the story of a life which he admits was privileged but came with a bit of angst until he came out as gay. He does a couple tributes to Judy Garland and to Liza. His 11 o'clock number is "maybe This Time" which he manages to make as a tribute to Liza while totally owning it for himself. The orchestra was nearly full and though I have no idea about the mezzanine or the balcony, they seemed to be fairly full too.
The Palace has been beautifully refr=urnished and the escalators take you up from street level to the theater. I believe there is an elevator which I hope stops at the floor below the theater for the restrooms. The one problem I saw was upon exit everyone is herded into the narrow exit where the escalators are and it takes longer than usual to exit the theater.
