Just finished. I saw it in London three times. I think it is spectacular. There were three standing ovations. Norma's both numbers and the title song. It was a very enthusiastic crowd from the get go. There were a few mic problems here and there but it was incredible. I think NS is incredible. Enough said. Her last scenes are very good. About the big number, it is different from London since a lot of the cast joins Joe. The number starts with the overture while "Joe" goes and visits the dressing rooms of his co-stars (same jokes as in London). Then he crosses the St. James vestibule and exits towards 44th st. He walks all the way to Shubert's alley until he reaches the Sunset Blvd. poster and then he is joined by most of the company (including the monkey) and they walk back to the St. James and he enters through the Orchestra (left side) and onto the stage. I might be wrong but, given how empty those streets were, I believe the walk might have been pre-recorded. It looked very empty. Someone will tell us. The last part has not gunshots per se, but it is rather scary. I had a young man sitting in front of me that kept jumping and was a little bothered. The last 10 mn. are intense. Questions, ask. |
