Cabaret this week--I think I enjoyed it.

I saw it this week.

The best thing about the production is the amazing theatre space transformation to look like a seedy, clandestine nightclub.

As for the actual show, it was good, but, without a set and fixing everything on the rotating stage in the middle of the theatre, it became monotonous quickly.

I loved Gayle Rankin's in-your-face, loud and obnoxious Sally. She has a strong voice. Bebe was good, but it's not that complex a role. Ato Blankson-Wood seemed to be just walking through as Clifford--or maybe being dull and forgettable is his take on the role. I didn't know what to make of Eddie Redmayne's Emcee. He was just weird and nothing else--never particularly inviting or alluring--just weird.
