Perennial yet specific: why did they move the "1776" act break?

Wikipedia asserts that in 2022, 1776 - that controversial iteration - moved the act break, inserting it after "He Plays the Violin." A bizarre decision to my thinking, the only reason might be to give more music to the second act (including one of the two best known songs, "Momma, Look Sharp.") Also, elsewhere in social media, people are still asking if Danner sang Martha's song in the film. My usual answer: if she hadn't they would've dubbed a more powerful cover. It's still so energy-free it barely works with the staging.

I never tired of these discussions, since I saw the DC tryout my senior year of high school. (And yes, Buckley tore the roof off the National Theatre.)
